I promised another giveaway and here it is! This week, I have a lovely assortment of Microplane products for one lucky winner. I’ve been a Microplane user now for nearly ten years and love, love, love their kitchen tools. There’s nothing like their original rasp for grating fresh nutmeg and zesting citrus and the larger graters are fantastic for grating cheese, carrots, potatoes and more.
This gift basket includes one of those original rasps with a cheery red handle as well as the extra course grater
.
There’s also their new adjustable cheese plane (it’s awfully snazzy) and a cheese mill
, good for grating harder cheeses.
The last thing in the basket is a Microplane pizza cutter. The thing that makes this the pizza cutter to top all pizza cutters is that it comes apart for easy cleaning. I use mine often, to score crackers before baking, to slice pastry dough or, this time of year, to cut my favorite holiday cookie. If you’re interesting in a chance to win this assortment of Microplaneproducts, here’s what to do.
- To enter the giveaway, leave a comment on this post and share one gift you’re hoping to receive this holiday season (tangible or intangible).
- Comments will close at 11:59 pm eastern time on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Winner will be chosen at random (using random.org) and will be posted to the blog on Sunday, December 11, 2011.
- Giveaway is open to U.S. residents only (apologies to my more far-flung readers).
- One entry/comment per person, please.
For more opportunities to win Microplane products, make sure to like their Facebook page. They frequently host giveaways of their new and classic products.

Hoping to receive this Microplane set for Christmas! Love, love their products! Merry Christmas Everyone!
All of the above:)
I’m looking forward to sleeping in on Christmas as a present! But I’m still hoping to find an all clad 4 quart pan under the tree…
what a wonderful giveaway!!! pretty much everything i want for christmas this year is for my kitchen. really wanting a new set of pans or a good mixer. i’ve thrown several hints, but we’ll see if my husband has picked up on them.
Oh, this is an awesome giveaway, esp the cheese plane. This holiday season, the gift I’m hoping to receive is both direct and indirect, tangible and intangible: I want my boyfriend to get the job he’s interviewing for at a Philly non-profit. He loves the organization and would be incredible. *fingers crossed*
I’d really love a food processor! My blender was never great, and it’s dying and I’d like something with more functions.
I would love a girls getaway with my mom and sister to the annual crochet fest all expenses paid.
Looking forward to two weeks of rest!
What is random is that my mother was just asking me whether I still needed a microplane set. I definitely do.
I am completely in love with graters, this would be a great prize to win. Unfortunately, I would only get to enjoy them by watching the hubs use them, I am no longer allowed. Ouch! But I would get very good use out of the cutter, we do pizza Fridays quite often.
As for a gift that I really hope to get this holiday season, it is tangible. It is a pressure canner. I am almost positive that my father and step mother are going to get me one. I sure hope they do. I have already started planning and learning! My first endeavor will be canning broth…freezer is full! And the second will be canning dry beans so I have beans ready to go whenever I need them, no more store bought cans or frozen pre-cooked that I forgot to thaw!
Happy holidays
The one gift I hope to receive this holiday season is a canning party. My friends and I keep stating we want to do one, but we haven’t narrowed down a date. I need to learn more about canning and I have the space to host a party, so I really hope this can get down. This would be the ultimate gift for me.
Great contest.
I’m really hoping for a pressure canner!
I asked for a new camera so my fingers are crossed!
I have asked for a couple of special cookbooks. But my big gift will be a solar oven, I have saved up the money for it. I love microplane, this is a great giveaway.
I’m hoping to get a bigger/better kitchen to hold all of the gadgets I’ve asked for on my wish list!!
Honestly, a Microplane is on the top of my list! What a fantastice giveaway.
I have never seen a Microplane Pizza Cutter before. I would love to win this entire Microplane Gift set. One gift I am hoping to get from Santa is a Mandoline, a really good one.
I’d love this – would be a real knuckle saver! My hoped-for Christmas gift is a Le Creuset loaf pan. My loaf pan is long overdue for an upgrade!
Just ordered my Christmas gift. A new 50mm f/1.8 camera lens. Can’t wait to get it!
Mmmmmm….Microplane…. This year I’m hoping to get a Kitchen Aid mixer… most likely not, but a girl can hope.
I really want an Instax camera for Christmas!
What a great giveaway…I do not have any of these and would be a great gift to win!!:))
Besides peace on earth and goodwill to all men? I’d like an immersion blender and Just Dance 3 for the WII. Oh, and a microplane set of awesomeness!
wool socks. Lots and lots of wool socks!
I only wish for more good times with good friends in the coming year. And if I win the Microplane set, I’ll share with them.
Hah! I don’t know what I want for Christmas. That seems to be THE question these days. Mostly I want to see my daughter experience the magic of the season of Christmas, whatever that may be for her this year. I have all the “stuff” I could ever need (but these Microplane items sure would make time in the kitchen more fun!) Thanks!
I’ve gotten nearly everything I’ve really wanted over the past few years, so the gifts I want most are intangible ones–calmness and strength in particular. (Not that I’d turn up my nose at a Microplane gift basket, though!)
I wouldn’t mind receiving a nice long back massage…
I’m hoping that everyone on my gift list will enjoy — and let me know how they’ll use — the canning I’m giving as Christmas presents this year
the best gift I can receive this year, would be for my daughter and 3 grandchildren to be with us for Christmas. The gift basket would be great for cooking !!

I’m hoping to for quality time with the people I love this Christmas (family and friends). I can’t wait to cook for everyone and share the love around the table!!!
I am hoping to get the 4th burner on my stove fixed! I did all my canning this season with 2 small burners and 1 large- it made for some difficult times. Also a microplane gift set would be pretty fantastic.
I’m getting just what I want this year – time with my grad student daughter at Christmas and a weekend at the local hot springs with my sweetie-pie husband in January.
a new Lanz nightgown to chase the damp NW chill, cds, cookbooks, a monthly cleaning service (not gunna happen
)
I, like so many others, am hoping for a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Alas, I have no where to put it and an unemployed boyfriend. Maybe next year. *crosses fingers*
A family Christmas this year with lots of laughing and eating! Love being with my family.
I’d love to get a kitchen scale this year…I am baking more and more, and am ready to move on to the next level of accurate weighing vs. fluffing the flour and hoping you don’t get too much. And I really do love my Microplanes. More is definitely better, in this case!
I’d love a new hand mixer!
i was late to the microplane party. i have one that i got a year or so ago, and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. i would love to have more! my one gift i’d love to get this year is a real cheese press. i’ve been learning how to make cheese, and i have a DIY one that works ok, but i’d love to have a real one. thank you for this contest!
Ooooo. I hope my friend Kara makes her delicious salted caramels with lavender! Yum.
Oh gosh! It was so hard to come up with a Christmas list this year, I’ve had such a good year already. I would most like to receive a better, larger tv (though I know that’s not in the cards at the moment). Maybe Santa will surprise me!
I’m looking forward to spending time at home with my family!
This is a wonderful give away. I would love to have these items but I think they would be wonderful in a college dorm. So if I win them I will either give all of them or share them with my daughter in college. Thank you for the chance!!

Super cool set! For christmas, I’m hoping for a new ipod to replace my broken one- its from the generation with the faulty headphone jack. :/
I would love to be given something homemade this year! I’ll be giving lots of my canning products and I would love to get something from someone else’s kitchen.
I would love a le cruset dutch oven from santa. Or a new and fancy nikon camera!
A good future for my niece would be nice. She’s a sweet kid becoming an adult in a very interesting and unsure time.
Hoping for a good/protective iPad stand for the kitchen. Open to suggestions…
The big gift i hope to get is new books!
Thank you for hosting this giveaway. I’m hoping for a garden gnome and a canning themed apron!
I would love love love this microplane set! What a lovely giveaway! What I want for Christmas is a trip (driving) to Texas, to visit 5 of my 9 grandkids, and my 2 daughters and their spouses. Can’t wait because its happening! WhooHoo!!! Merry Christmas!!
I would like a salad spinner. And Barbie stickers. The pizza cutter looks like a neat tool!
i would really like a pasta maker.
I honestly haven’t thought about anything I would like for Christmas. I’m sure if I thought about it I could come up with something, but I just haven’t done that! But without even thinking about it I know what I would want if I had that microplane – a lemon-zested bundt cake!!
This year for Christmas. I want a happy husband and kids and a clean house.
What fun tools! I’m hoping for a few cookbooks–King Arthur Flour’s Whole Grain Baking is the one I can remember right now.

I was just looking at these in a friends catalog, but my wish for Christmas is to have anything for my kitchen (have to start all over again)

I would love to get my house cleaned for Christmas.
The Mister and I were just talking about getting some Microplane graters!
The last couple of years I’ve given family jars of jams and pickles. I’d just like to get my jars back!
Didn’t know that Microplane made a pizza cutter, and one that comes apart to boot. Might be just the thing for my pizza-loving boyfriend! For Christmas, I’m hoping Santa will bring me a trip to somewhere warmish in the new year. I’d settle for a little more peace and love among folks though.
I’d like to have a Christmas Eve (Seven fishes) and Christmas Day where all the family is healthy and happy. Haven’t been able to get everyone together this year without someone being sick.
Those are some awesome prizes!
I’m hoping for some of my fine china this year.
Aha! We don’t buy or exchange gifts for Christmas for the past 10 years or so. What we do is drop into a waffle house on Christmas morning and leave a $100 tip for our waitress. I always hope that it is just the amount of money to keep her head above water and certainly to float hope out of poverty. If you’ve worked as a waitress at WH, you know what I mean. Great giveaway, btw!
Kat- I used to be a waitress and that would have been something so great! It’s not a glorious job to have but you do have to be hard working. What a great way to spread some cheer!
A job offer for post-graduation? But seriously, I’m really hoping for a soda siphon. No more lugging bottles of seltzer on the back of the bike!
The “plane” truth is, it would be “grate” to win this package…
I’m hoping to get a new TV for Christmas!!
I asked for a cheese plane for Christmas…so this giveaway would be great. I’m also hoping for some new running gear!
That basket looks awesome! I really want a Starbucks gift card for Christmas. I love going there and it’s even better if it’s “free.”
Lokking forward to Santa bringing a Kureig and any enamaled cast iron pot is wondeful to cook in!!!!
I guess I am way out dated here in our little home town… Never even heard of Microplane… ;( And for Christmas this year we are just buying a few small things for our kids…
For Christmas, I’d like some beginner sewing books, since I just bought my first sewing machine– time for even more things handmade!
I would love it if my toddler learned how to sleep through the night. That would be the best Christmas gift EVER!
This would take care of several things for me. My daughter and I love cheese but use a paring knife. Whenever I need to zest something I scrape away with a fork and we LOVE pizza around here. That pizza cutter would work awesome for cutting homemade pasta too! **crossing my fingers for the win**
One gift that I would love is to see my mother. She lives in Mexico and is unable to fly due to medical complications. I have been unable to travel due to my citizenship process. We Skype whenever possible but I want to hug her.
I’d love to win even just the rasp, but the whole package would be wonderful! The gift my husband and I are waiting for this year is the birth of our first child. Our baby boy is scheduled to arrive on the Solstice, and I can’t think of a more amazing Christmas present!
I am wishing for happy holidays with my family and friends.
I am hoping to receive a couple new preserving cookbooks to fuel my canning addiction. And have fingers crossed my boyfriend’s artisan candle biz has a good season!
Love these! I really want some doughnut pans for Christmas. I want to try some GF ones.
What a fun giveaway! It’s generous enough to keep some and share some, too.
I’d like to share my Christmas wish with my truly better half Eddie, that he has
a wonderful holiday this year and, God willing, is here to celebrate next year, too!
I’ve always wanted a brand new car with a giant red bow on it, like the ones you see in the commercials. I told my husband this, he said good luck with that. When I was a teenager I told my mother I wanted a car for Christmas. She bought me Hot Wheels. While I was disappointed, I still appreciated the awesome burn.
I am hoping to get some books this year (and the microplane basket!).
I have my eye on a few cookbooks, some bike accessories, and gifts of food are always appreciated!
I already have graters and a microplane that I adore, but I would love to give these to my sister as a gift!
ooh, fun giveaway! this year i am hoping to get (and i think i am receiving) one of those cool apple-shaped cast iron dutch ovens that lodge makes. so pretty!
Thanks for another awesome giveaway! This year I am hoping for my new lens for my camera, but I am undecided between getting a wide angle lens or trying something completely new and getting a Lensbaby.
This looks amazing. I’m giving away lemon curd…and want a bunch of Meyer lemons and fresh figs.
This year I am hoping to spend Christmas morning with my new fiance, just me and him.
A microplane would sure help with all the holiday zesting! I will be in Cambodia over the holidays sourcing and buying yummy Kampot pepper so I hope for a safe trip and lots of new culinary experiences!
I’m hoping for a new phone for Christmas!
I’m hoping to get some Joel Salatin books and a folding card table.
I don’t know what *I* want but I figured out what to get everyone else….so maybe a peaceful, unrushed holiday season will do – time to bake some batches of cookies with my girls. We love Microplane in our house too!
What a wonderful giveaway. The top wish on my list this year is a scroll saw. Saw my santa looking at the sale ad and then mysteriously had to run an errand. I think I just might find it under the tree Christmas morning.
All I want for Christmas is a stress-free move out of my current apartment, and then happiness in my new place. If all goes to plan, then I’m splurging on a KitchenAid mixer in cherry red to celebrate! Microplanes would be a great companion!
Oh! Oh! Oh! Lovely!
Then, I could concentrate on work in the kitchen!
Hoping to have the time to finish building a new front door by Christmas.
Cheers!
I only have 1 microplace but it’s incredibly useful and versatile – it amazes me how revolutionary they have been.
To be a complete downer and sap (sorry), I’d like my little old lady cat to live happily another couple of months.
Fabric is at the top of my tangible list, and my family in the center of God’s will is my intangible.
I love Microplane, I have a couple already…but you can always use more! This year for Christmas I want a nice 20 degree and sunny day for a ski. Happy Holidays Marissa!
What a fabulous giveaway. I’m new to canning do I asked my husband to stuff my stocking with some basic canning supplies like a magnetic lid picker upper, jar grabber, funnel, timer, etc.
Oh, for this holiday season I’d like for my family to not give me any gifts, because they are terrible gift givers. What I’d really like more than anything though, is for me to not feel left out of all the holidays, being a person who chose to become a jew to marry my husband, but still missing the festivity of Christmas at this time of year.
Sleek yet warm winter gloves would be nice… and thanks, for this contest.
I hope I get Martha Stewart’s new book.
and a maid.
I am hoping for some new baking sheets. KIlled my last cheap air-bake making the turkey for Thanksgiving. A cutting board, some new knives or a new roasting pan would be great too.
Looking forward to the gift of spending at least one more Christmas with my 95 year old grandma-in-law.
I’m really hoping for a tripod for my camera.
I would really love to get a new blender or mixture but I am just not sure it is a justifiable expense along with everything else we need!!!
What a great give-away! I could really use those tools! Every year my Christmas list seems to include at least one cookbook. This year I really want “Handheld Pies” by Rachel Wharton…and ecookbooks.com even has it on sale!!
Nice! Not only do I hope to win this, but I’d also love a trip to the Caribbean, not sure which is more likely!
I hope to win the microplane gift pack. I’ve been wanting a new one for awhile now. All are lovely, but the microplane would do me just fine. lol Merry Christmas everyone.
All I want for Christmas is for my fiance not to have to go to overseas for a year. But since he’s on his way there now, I guess I’m going to settle for some new recipes and kitchen gadgets to occupy my time instead.
For Christmas this year I would like to have a new vacuum, or a new gas stove. Maybe a new fridge. We’ll see…I won’t hold my breath, just in case.
p.s. thanks for the chance to win! I love Microplane!
The tools look lovely! I’m wish wish wishing I’ll get a new DSLR!
I would love to win a new kitchen item. I always look forward to new tools for the kitchen.
What a great gift basket! We don’t buy presents for each other at Christmas anymore, our kids and our foster kids have big wish lists!!! We usually get something for each other at our anniversary later in the year.
I’m hoping to learn that my first grandchild is on the way.
I would really like a food processor….
I would appreciate any new kitchen tool for Christmas. This microplane assortment would make me very happy. Thank you for this giveaway!
I would like health for my loved ones and I, oh and bit of cheese on the side would be excellent too.
a whetstone!
I bought my first house this year (a 1928 Florida bungalow) but the chimney is in disrepair… I can’t afford to fix it this winter, so I really want a fire pit for my back yard! I’d love to sit under my live oak and cozy up to a little fire on chilly nights this winter.
Oooh – so many things – LOL! Really, just hoping for an upgraded sewing machine, but would be thrilled if just once hubby would get me something all by himself – LOL! Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous set! Love my mini, but would love to play with all these goodies!

ohh what an awesome give away! Could put all of that to good use! This xmas I am not asking for anything. As long as I have a roof over my head, food in my belly and a healthy husband with a paying job, I think that is the most I could ask for with the kinda last couple of years we have had…..but i wouldnt mind if someone got me some rot gut hickory farms cheeseball and salami stick

For Christmas, I would like to be around family and friends with lots of laughter.

I’m hoping for some headphones to listen to my iPhone with.
If I were wishing for wrapped things under the tree, a cast-iron lidded casserole or a food processor would help me evolve my bread-making, but really I am wishing for a job, since I am unemployed and living off savings.
I’m hoping to receive some cute jars. I mean, really, can you ever have enough?
I love my small microplane and bought one for my daughter for Christmas. I’d love this whole set; the hard cheese grater looks wonderful!
My best Christmas gift would be organic seeds to start my spring garden. I’m already dreaming of what I’ll be canning next summer. Of course, there are many intangibles that I wish for my family, loved ones and community.
Thanks for this give-a-way!
So excited to see my family in Ireland. There is no greater gift than being with your loved ones!

I am wishing for two weeks of rest and that those two weeks go by very slowly.
I’m hoping for a pair of footy pajamas.
I have a few cookbooks on my list…
I was just saying that I really needed a microplane. So useful and versatile. I really do not NEED anythigng for Christmas, but my daughter getting accepted to Westchester University for spring semester would be very nice.
I just “discovered” microplanes this year. I’d heard about them for years, of course. But I never bought myself one until this year. I like the way it lets me zest an orange or lemon. For Christmas…hmmm…I’ve given up wanting things for myself. I love books about food, although not necessarily cookbooks. I’m currently reading through the one about mushrooms, “Mycophilia: Revelations from the Weird World of Mushrooms”. If I could have one gift, it would be to have all 3 of my children and 3 grandchildren home together again this year.
World peace–I ask for it every year, and I’m still waiting. Microplane products would be a close second.
Family time!
I’d like Peace on Earth…and the time and energy to finish canning the apples. Yeah, that’d be great.
I’m hoping to get a Silhouette Cameo.
The only thing I want for Christmas this year is for my husband to keep to his job.
I really just want to see my children’s faces on Christmas morning, But I know I am getting America’s test kitchen 2011 recipe book and videos my husband made me order it for myself lol….
I have been mostly good this year with some occasional transgressions, so I have asked Santa for a Kitchen-Aide stand mixer (in red of course). I love my one Microplane tool and think having an entire assortment would be greatly fun and useful.
I’m hoping to get some clean make-up from W3ll People and an Amazon gift card to reload my Kindle.
Love these graters! Anything for Christmas would be great…..maybe just free of stress would be the best gift!
Hoping for a sourdough kit from King Arthur Flour
I am hoping that my 2 year old son’s CT scan on the 15th comes back with a report that there is no cancer. That will make 6 months cancer free for Christmas!
Since my old canner no longer is able to “can”, a new canner would be lovely! Thank you so much for this lovely Gift Basket Giveaway!
I’m hoping to get to meet my grand niece for Christmas or perhaps shortly after that!
I’m hoping to get some time with my brother who wants help learning to bake snickerdoodles.
Ohhh …microplane graters > the best!!! I just want all of my family around my dining room table for Christmas breakfast!

Great giveaway! I want a happy, peaceful day spent with family.

I can’t really think of anything I want… maybe a Starbucks card? Oh, I know… lots of inspriring posts from Food in Jars for the coming year! Now that is one gift I know I will get!
I would really love to have all my kids under one roof for Christmas. But since that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, a microplane gift basket would make me happy too
For Christmas, I’m really hoping that I can finish all the things that I had made new years resolutions to to finish at the beginning of the year.
What a nice giveaway! I hope I win! I have asked for a pair of Deer Stags Slipperooz slippers and/or gift cards to my grocery store for Christmas. Things are tight and I’m being practical this Christmas. Happy Holidays to all!
I’d really like more free time to work on all the cooking and craft projects I want to try
What I want for Christmas is time to make memories with family over the holidays.
I want Christmas to be full of joy, laughter and gratitude.
I have Microplane’s citrus grater – but clearly I am missing out on the rest of their stuff! I am hoping my first batch of airlock sauerkraut goes well enough to give as gifts…
The one gift I hope to receive is my sons time! It is a “cat’s cradle” in reverse situation!
I hope I get a bicycle! But this gift basket looks amazing too!
if not peace on earth then maybe peace of mind….Merry Christmas
I’m hoping I get refreshed at Christmas.
I would like to give some jam to my in-laws this year. We made some nice peach blackberry pie filling as well, so I will be making a lot of pie

Great Gifts, Thanks for the chance to win
I’d love to have our baby born before the end of the year! Thanks for the giveaway.
I’m hoping for a gift certificate for Brooklyn Kitchen so I can take some classes or stock my larder!
I’d love to get a new mixer, mine is 28 and showing extreme wear. It has all kinds of attachments, so when it goes I will be bereft but staunch: I still have a kitchen so I can adapt! My previous favorite gift has been my ‘first’ dishwasher because I use it every day with a thankful heart. Yeah, I could do it by hand but oh, how nice to NOT.
I’d love a sodastream so I don’t need to lug crates of seltzer up to my apartment!
Nice gift basket! I’ve yet to try microplane products…
What I am hoping and wishing for this year is mainly a food mill with all the different disks. A maker and lover of jams and jellies, it is something I could really, really use in the kitchen that I can’t bring myself to buy for myself.
I’m hoping Santa brings me a new desk chair. The one I have is making my back hurt. I recently purchased a pizza cutter similar to the one from Microplane. I use it to cut fudge and carmels. So far, I’m loving it.
I am hoping for some time off work to spend it with my best friend and love of my life. Need to recharge the batteries to get ready for 2012.
I am hoping for a steam mop…this would REALLY be wonderful as I have a daycare in my home and I want to be as chemical free as possible!
I would love if Santa left a Kitchenaid mixer under my tree, even if it is vintage, or old, or has a blown motor (I’ll rebuild it) or even new (the kind that comes in a box). If I get a Microplane, it would come as a close second so I can put some fresh nutmeg on my nog.
I asked for a handheld GPS unit so my family can continue to geocache. Also, I need new measuring spoons and cups…. they are dying from my bridal shower 8 years ago. =(
OOohh! I would love to win this Microplane Gift Basket! I have started buying cheeses in whole form & grating as needed so we can avoid adding cellulose & other additives.
I have a bunch of cookbooks on my list as well as Rancho Gordo’s Year of Beans program… which I may end up buying for myself.
I’m hoping to get an electric frying pan like the one my mother had when I was growing up. It’s so versatile.
Curious to try that rasp, never seen one used in the kitchen.
The cheese knife is great, When my youngest son was little, he loved cutting the cheese. NO PUN INTENDED. He got his very own cutter for Christmas. It lasted for almost 14 years in our home… Would be great to have one of these little packages to give to him again! My Christmas list is short this year, I only want to see our 5 children in the same room for Christmas! And lots of Joy!
Green Bay Packers stock from the shareholder sale today!

This is a great give away! I’m hoping for a Kitchen Aid stick blender because I loaned mine to my mom, who loaned it to my niece, who swears she gave it back to mom…long story short, it has disappeared.
I accidentally left my nutmeg grater while visiting friends and family in the NC mountains last December and would love this giveaway of graters since they have multiple uses in the kitchen. For Christmas I hope to receive notice that my daughter has time off work over the holidays so we can visit the mountain house again this season so I can spend some quality time with my foodie daughter and maybe get snowed in again while we cook up some scrumptious meals.
I am hoping to receive a guitar for Christmas. I have been studying books for a few months and cannot wait to start practicing for real.
AAH love to get those cookbooks. but a microplane would be just awesome. Didn’t know they did a pizza cutter. What a neat idea. Happy Holidays to all

hey all! Your toffee recipe is the first candy recipe I actually think I could make! I was instilled with a nasty fear of candy making, what with the candy thermometers and what not. Also…I love kitchen gadgets…thanks for your post!
this holiday season… I want a day of relaxation. That’s it. I actually want a spa day with manicure, pedicure and a massage. And wine. With some cheese. That’s all I want in life.

What a great giveaway – five items that I actually DON’T have in my kitchen! For Christmas this year, I’d like some Burts Bees products. It sounds silly but I love their stuff, and I never justify buying it for myself.
I LOVE your site–I reference it all of the time!
This year I’m hoping (my Christmas wish) to perfect my jam making skills…and with all of my plans leading up to the big day, I should have just the right amount of practice to do so! Thanks for the inspiration!
What an amazing giveaway!
I actually have a fine grater from microplane (for parmasean) on my list this year — so if I won I’d give it to my mom!

I’m hoping to receive some leisurely coffee date time with my sister.
I love the Christmas season! I would simply like to spend time with all of my family.

I’m hoping for more good times with friends and family in the coming year.
And a new chef’s knife!
I’m not really wishing for anything this year for myself (no extra money). I’m hoping that my kids are still happy even though it’s a scaled-down Christmas this year. I’m sure they will be!!
I hope to receive some linoblock cutting tools so I can start block printing and open my own etsy store!
I’m hoping for a crock pot this year, so I can make some yummy winter stews.
Thank you!
I would love to get a food slicer. But I doubt that I will get one; my wife is weary of me always being in the kitchen!
I’m wishing for a mandoline. And I have to check out that pizza cutter! Have been using the original rasp for years.
What a lovely giveaway — thank you for posting and hosting it!
One thing I’m hoping to get for Christmas this year is plenty of quality time with my husband’s family and friends in Oklahoma City. Oh, and an Italian-English dictionary, to help me memorize useful phrases for my upcoming trip to the Boot in January!
i would love to be entered for this and what i would really like is a pressure cooker/canner but i don’t think i will be getting but that is ok tax time i will try again. lol
I’d love a microplane for Christmas, ha, ha! But seriously, I’d like the promise that 2012 will not be as hard as 2011 has been. Please, please, I need a year to recover.
Most of all I want a clean, organized house for Christmas. But, since there’s not much chance of that, a microplane sure would make me happy.

I’m hoping for a Shun chef knife this year!
I’d love to get a new blender for channukah!
I love my microplane. I would like some unusual beans from Rancho Gordo for my holiday gift.
Awesome giveaway! I already got the one big thing I wanted this year, a new butcher block island for my kitchen – it required a small road trip down to the Ikea in Conshohocken, thus the reason I have it already
but other than that I am wishing for a happy and healthy new year with friends and family – that would be a wonderful gift. This past year saw me in the hospital for severe kidney infection and sepsis (…I was very, VERY sick), then my mom had a kidney stone, I turned 30 while half my hair was falling out from the physical toll my sickness took on my body, and my husband lost his job. Needless to say, I think the best gift is this year ending and hopefully 2012 being a much, much better one.
What a lovely gi

For my hubby to suffer less from health issues and be healed. For our kids to be forgiving, get long and enjoy each other.
Thank you for hosting the giveaway! My “hidden heartbeat” wish for myself this holiday season is that I am blessed with patience. Seems that I have been a tad lacking lately!
Perhaps my list should go something like this: “Dear Santa, for Christmas this year I want a Microplane gift basket.”
But more seriously, I’m hoping to get a lovely grain mill.
My husband and I usually get each other weekends away somewhere for xmas. Looking forward to seeing what he picks this year!

Ooh, would love a micro plane. The one thing I really want this year is a bigger stockpot. I just can’t make enough stock in my 8 qt.
Your website has inspired many moments in me this past year – thank you many times over. My Christmas wish this year is for quiet time with my 20 year old twins who are at different colleges but coming home for the holidays. I would share the basket between us all as they are still setting up their own kitchens and have become good cooks. Thanks, Chris

What a great giveaway!
For Christmas, I would love to get a new cat companion for my other furry friend, Vino. She is 3 yrs old and the love of my life. Another cat in my household would be such a great joy that would bring me more laughter and happiness.
Fingers Crossed!
A pressure canner, of course!
I’m looking forward to another year of Cooks Illustrated from my brother and a box full of jars of my sister’s jams.
Oddly enough as I was grating some garlic to use in a marinade last night, I thought how “grate” it would be to have another micro-plane or rasp. I only started using them this year and I’m hooked. Constantly I am having to fish my one and only micro-plane out of the dishwasher, so another or two or three or more would be a fabulous gift. Oh and peace on earth good will to all men, women, children and canners would be nice too.
We’re starting a new Christmas tradition in a new place this year and I’m hoping that the weather doesn’t get in the way. That’s on my list
I’m hoping to get new cake pans.
Thanks for the giveaway. (and the toffee recipe! I know what I’m giving away for Christmas this year!) I am hoping for an immersion blender.
I recieved my present early this year, Grandbaby Emma born this morning.
I would love to recieve the gift of my daughter for Christmas. She lives far away and I miss her.
Good question, my wife keeps asking me the same thing!
Ultimately, a nice walk-in pantry. Barring that, more space for canned goods besides the garage.
Ooh, you can never have too many graters, especially Microplane ones! I already got my Christmas wish this year: we just booked a trip to Ireland for the spring! I’ve never been off the continent, and I can’t wait for a little adventure.
I drool for an enameled cast iron dutch oven– but I fear my hints are being ignored and I will end up with something Apple related……. My fiancee thinks everyone wants presents that plug in to a computer.
I’m hoping to get some new quilting and sewing inspiration books!
I am hopefully getting a new pressure canner. Maybe I can finally figure out how to use it! Love microplane. My favorite is the citrus zester!

Funny, just yesterday was looking at a couple different graters. Timely giveaway, Marisa! Confession! I have already received my Christmas gifts ;0)… because I picked & ordered them myself – hehe (I just LOVE shopping sprees). With all the new spices I’ve just ordered, I would now like (and need) a spice rack. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY, HEALTHY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR, MARISA & EVERYONE!

I’m hoping to receive the gift of time with my family…and this awesome gift basket!
What a great giveaway! I’m really hoping to get the new Cooks Illustrated cookbook. I saw it at Costco this weekend and almost drooled all over it.
Great giveaway! Microplanes are awesome! While I didn’t ask for it, they’re quite pricey.. what I would love for Christmas is a big stainless steel stock pot. I have an aluminum one that everything burns at the bottom because it’s so thin, so a real one would be wonderful. I might just get it myself if I receive enough $$$
Nice giveaway.
I would love to have a gift certificate for Joann’s, lol.
I can hardly think of any tangible item I really want this year, but ever since my son was born I’ve wished that each year he learns more about the importance of giving and just appreciating time with family and friends.
A Vitamix would be on my tangible gift list for sure!

I am hoping for a label maker so I can get organized in 2012!
I LOVE Microplane products and had no idea they made a pizza cutter or the cheese mill…NICE! This year I am hoping to get a homemade by my husband or father-in-law, fold away table unit that I found plans for and love. I am living away from my husband right now because I found a job in another city and the income was something we couldn’t turn down. I am in a small (400 Sq ft) studio apartment and need furniture that is multi-function.
I don’t want to jinx it, but by Christmas I’m hoping for an end to the suspense.

Drooling over this giveaway! For Christmas, I’m most excited for all my sisters to get together at my parents’ house for the first time in a long time.
I would really like a stand mixer for Christmas this year.
A new canning rack & jar lifter. The rack I have is black now (I don’t think it was any form of stainless anything) and it turns my water orange after a few consecutive uses, even though it doesn’t sit in water when it’s not in use. The lifter I have is just wearing down. I’ve put them through quite a lot in a year & a half
Love your blog!
This Christmas I just want peace of mind, as 2011 has been a doozy. But, if I have to be Material Girl, a Cuisinart Food Processor or a new cast iron skillet would be pretty swell too.
Honestly, I’m just hoping for a relatively stress free holiday. I enjoy the family time and togetherness so much that I am currently worrying more about when we should show up at our various gatherings than I am about what I should give anyone or what I want.
Love my microplane! This year I am hoping for world peace
Unfortunately it’s not going to happen, but I’d love for my hubby to get his salary back. In the last 2 years his income’s been cut by more than 30% and that really messes with how you feel about yourself and your job.
i hope that someone donates in my name to the eastern massachusetts abortion fund because the work they do is so incredible!
I hope to get online water colour lessons!
If I win I will have the prizes sent to my daughter-in-love in San Jose who is expecting in April. She will need the cheese slicer to make grilled cheese sandwiches for my wee grandson when he is older!

I am hoping for a Nikon 1 camera and the microplane give away!,

I hope I get a pull-up bar or a new pair of running shoes. Mostly, though, I just want to spend some relaxing time with my husband and my family.
I really hope that I get my registration for a blogging seminar paid for by my hunny. He’s so good to me, I think he might actually do it.
~Megan Pence
My desire would be to have a Squeezo Strainer. After reading ‘Wild Flavors’ I see that as a need.
Not to get all personal or anything but I’m currently pregnant with our second child. We’re delivering on the 21st & I’ve had a lot of complications with with pregnancy, personal and physiological. peace.
I’m hoping for some comfy gel mats for my hard kitchen floors
A new crock pot is on my list.
For Christmas I would like to receive the gift of time. I feel like I’m always running here and there. I’m considering giving my Mom and gift of a weekend at the beach. Just her and I, no kids. That will in turn be a gift to me. Quiet time and time with my Mom.
As I’ve moved to a new state recently (leaving my hubby & microplane temporarily behind), I’m psyched by your giveaway! And I’m hoping Santa brings me Andrea Reusing’s book, Cooking in the Moment!
Oh, I hope I win this one! I am hoping for a well-behaved new puppy with all the family coming in from out of town!
Any gardening gift certificate is fine by me!
I’m hoping for some Tattler Jar Lids and Pomona Pectin so I can finally try out different types of canning supplies.
I’m hoping to receive more time quiet, personal time with my husband before he deploys. We’re both so busy with opposite schedules, and now trying to finish moving into and setting up our new home, that any extra time together would be a blessing.
Cheers,
*Heather*

I want my PCOS medication (and the workouts I’m doing) to work effectively enough that I can eat a semi-normal Christmas dinner. And MAYBE a cookie.
For Christmas I would like pleasant weather on the east coast so there will be no problems getting to see the ones I love.
…and a new Crock Pot
Merry Christmas!
Family time is what I’m hoping for this year — relaxing, laughing, eating, playing together. I can think of lots of ways the Microplane tools would fit into the eating part.
Thanks for the chance.
I’m hoping for a new chef knife then vacation days full of cooking and reorganizing my kitchen.
I have a small rasp that I used for my nutmeg but microplanes are the best! I hope to get a nice one this year, or perhaps a mandoline!
When I received my KitchenAid stand mixer a few years ago I somehow missed that there were all these neat attachments you could get for it! My Christmas gift wish this year is the KitchenAid grain grinder so I can grind this corn I grew this summer a little easier than using my marble mortar and pestle (even though that’s a method that’s worked for thousands of years…). Second on my list is the KitchenAid ice cream maker — which will of course brighten the lives of the rest of my household too!
I’m hoping for some 1/2 gallon mason jars that I can use to store popcorn and dried beans and such in.
I’m really hoping for some Ugg slippers!
I would love a new me! At least the beginning of a new me!
I’m dying for a good, new work purse. Mine is falling to pieces. Again. Even though I bought it in August.
I tend to find when I read through the comments that many of my fellow readers have similar ideas to mine. (Kindred spirits, perhaps.) I could definitely go for cheese, yarn, a good backrub, etc. Like Celeste, though, my life right now is totally dominated by the fact that I’m expecting a Christmas baby (my first, a girl), and I’m likewise hoping for healthy & uncomplicated. And maybe some sleep, if that’s not too much to ask for!
Sleep.
I’m hoping for a festive Hannukah/Christmas dinner with all my extended family with lots of food and chatting and relaxing…as I’m finishing up my final exams at school, the thought of that is keeping me going
These are fabulous! I am hoping my friends and family love my gifts of canned goods this year, as it will be my first time giving them!
I hope to get lots of smilesand hugs from my kids!
Happy Holidays! I’m hoping for a KitchenAid Mixer. Since I’ve retired, I’m cooking and baking a LOT more and my little handheld mixer just can’t handle some of the tasks.
I am just really looking forward to seeing my baby niece and nephews. We live 13 hours away from them, so I only get to see them a few times a year. But this Christmas I get to spend the whole week with them! Best holiday present ever!
I am hoping to really experience gratefulness with my family this year- the harder things get, the more I want to appreciate all the goodness in our lives…
Something, anything…shiny.
I love Microplane graters and would love to try these other products. What I always want for Christmas is for the family to be together. I don’t need fancy presents but I get a kick out of making a wonderful family dinner and have everyone come over to my house for some quality time together.
I hope to get loads of memories this Christmas.
Just hoping for health and happiness for my loved ones. I have everything else that I need! (But I won’t say no to a GPS enabled running watch…)
I’m hoping to get a family vacation trip!
Thanks for the giveaway deal… hope to win!!!
This year I would love a madaline or a pasta attachment for my kitchen aid mixer.
What I really would like for Christmas is some new slippers! We have cold floors, and my old slippers are just falling apart. . .
I’m hoping for a chance to see my god-daughter for Christmas – custody issues have made it very hard to see her, and she needs more stability and love in her life.
After a difficult break up and the drama that always ensues, I’m asking for normalcy this year. Or possibly a new normal!
I’m hoping to see everyone I want to see when I’m home (I currently live about 1500 miles away)! Also new boots
Love Microplane tools. I’m hoping for books this year.

Oh, man! What a giveaway! Can always find uses for microplanes!
This Christmas, I would like my mother in law to stop talking about my uterus and lack of babies coming from it.
I’m hoping to get an ereader so I can read anywhere!
I’m excited to celebrate the holiday with all my out of town family that is flying in and especially excited to also celebrate the first birthday of my niece! It would also be lovely to find a new blender/food processor combo under the tree.
And now to grate as many things in my kitchen as I can find…
I don’t celebrate Christmas, but it is my birthday in a few days and I’d love a new laptop!
I’m making a spice kit for my baby sister who just got her first apartment, with little jars of fresh spices and some favorite recipes.
I think I would like a very peaceful season of family & friends. The set of microplane items would be nice as I am trying to work towards using all things home made.
I would love to get a cast-iron terrine mold, but if no one gets it for me, I’ll get it at Dehillerin in Paris this January.
Oh Boy!…I would luv to win this basket…I could sure use some of these tools right now…I would like to receive lots of love and perhaps some gift certificates to Amazon.Com if they can afford it…if not…LOVE is more than enough!
I’d love a microplane set, but most of all, I want my husband to have a new job (or not get laid off from his current one).
I want a salad spinner!
I’m hoping for a new tablecloth and napkins.
I was going to write that I would like to get an asparagus pot for Christmas so I can can small batches. As I was scrolling down I just happened to stop at comment 207 from Angela Lux. I had to fight back the tears. I am sending good thoughts your way in hopes that you get that good report of no cancer for your son. Merry Christmas.
Actually, that original rasp IS on my Christmas list this year. I’ve been wanting it for a long time, I don’t don’t know why I haven’t broken down and bought it myself. So, maybe if I receive one and win, I’ll be able to pass one to someone else.
crossing my fingers for a mandolin – im dreaming of wisps of fennel and pickled cucumbers and apple chips!
i want 5 fingers shoes, and a dehydrator… but what i’m probly getting is watching my kids open more presents than they need… you know how that goes….

I’ve always wanted to play the mandoline. Anyway, these tools look awesome!! For Christmas, I’m hoping for brushes and paint from Santa. These days I have to paint without some of my standard palette colors, which presents an interesting artistic challenge. Picasso had his “Blue” period. I’m having my “No Blue” period.

I’m hoping that this December brings more opportunities for the unemployed and health care for those in need. I would love for my husband to believe me when I say I want a new salad spinner, a pizza peel & stone, and a new compost pail for the counter. Just because they are useful, doesn’t mean they aren’t gifts!
A Microplane, actually! I had a large one with a hinged, collapsible handle and last night when I went to grate some Parmesan on it, the handle snapped clean off! (It had seen many years of heavy use, so this is not entirely surprising.) Still have my rasp, but I loved that other one for grating cheese, so I need a replacement ASAP and this gift basket would be perfect. (I didn’t even know there was a Microplane pizza cutter!)
The cheese plane looks terrific! I’m hoping for a Sodastream.
I am crossing my fingers for an enamel coated cast iron pan!
Pizza cutter for me!

This Christmas I would really like to have my husband home and spend the day drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies. Not sure if that will happen on Christmas but the next best thing is having the rest of my family here for Christmas and eating a huge meal together. That is a Christmas gift I know I will be getting:)
This is a great idea for a giveaway — I have been looking for a new nutmeg grater, since nothing compares to fresh grated nutmeg this time of year. This Christmas I am hoping to have my family together to relax and reflect upon the reason for the season.

Come on, 601! Anyway, I’ve really got my eye on this cute Harry Potter themed necklace from Etsy, which has sold! I hope it sold to one of my relatives!
This Christmas, I’m mostly looking forward to spending time with my family (parents and siblings). I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s rare for us to all be in the same place at the same time anymore, so I try to appreciate the times when we can. My mother’s been battling cancer this year, and my brother will be home with his wife and new baby, which is rare. And also I’ll get a break from work!

What a fabulous basket of goodies! I’ve never owned a microplane, but have often caressed them in the stores. (LOL) My pizza cutter is one I picked up at the grocery store many years ago – very inexpensive and wobbly (imagine the sound of cowboy spurs). I’m really hoping for two things. An OXO food mill because my old Foley one is so frustrating that I actually skip lots of recipes now that call for one. And maybe, just maybe, a Maslin pan. Because I’m totally addicted to jam making. Totally.
Love your site! I want happy teenagers with good grades for Christmas this year. That is not too much to ask for right?

I’m hoping the holidays bring good times and good memories. My six-year-old totally believes in magic and Santa, so this season is such a special time for our family.
Truth be told, I’d love to receive a micro-planer (our 2nd one of a non-picro-planer brand is now breaking in the exact same place as the one it replaced) and a pizza cutter, so, ya know, this give-away could be good for us…. But truly, I’m looking forward to “the gift of family time.” Both with my kiddos, and my brother coming in from clear across the country.
Thanks for the dance, but far more importantly, thanks for the fabulous inspiration you dole out on this blog.

Oh well, so….I am asking for a nice digital camera. I have taken up hiking with a group of people. A camera will give me an excuse to stop and rest. I won’t really be resting….I’ll be taking pictures of the beautiful scenery in Arkansas!!
Some toasty slippers to wear next to the fireplace.
I’m hoping for a ring.
I’m hoping for a real canning pot so I can stop using my stock pot for processing.
I already received the best gift ever, celebrating our first Christmas with our son, after several years of hoping for children. However, cute canning jars would be a nice treat under the tree!
Excellent blog, love the layout, dig the recipes, perennially jealous of the brilliant ideas. I would really like a microplane set for the holidays, but I’d settle for a boyfriend that knew how to cook also.

He’s not exactly a scrooge, but he’s right on the edge! What a lovely give-away – thank you!
I will be grateful to spend the holiday season with my family.
My mom passed away this summer so the one thing I want is my family around me – we will truly miss her.
I gave up my home this year and had to sacrifice all my kitchen gear along with most of my personal belongings collected over 25 years. It was a bittersweet moment when I realized that I had become “homeless” but a very dear friend extended an opportunity to start over. I am finding my new life liberating! I have started over from scratch at 52 years old and found my new self in the old ways, like canning my own homegrown veggies! So this year I wish for a pressure canner so I can expand my new self and evolve into my new life.

I already got my Christmas present – I got to go to Ladies Rock Camp (a fundraiser for Girls Rock & Roll Camp) and got so excited that my husband bought me my own bass guitar and amplifier. My Christmas present to myself is going to be lessons!
I am really hoping for some new supplies or a GC to make more jewelry!
This will be our first Christmas in NC (after moving from AK.) It’s far-fetched, but all I really want is a white Christmas!
However, a microplane grater has been on my “to-purchase” list for entirely too long, so winning this would be fantastic!
Sneaking in right at the end here! I’m really just hoping for a larger crock pot. I’ve really gotten into using the small one I have that it would be wonderful to be able to cook larger batches of things to freeze.
