straw_rasp jam winnerAs is my norm, I’m a couple days late in announcing the winner of my latest giveway. What can I say, the weekend seems to always get away from me. The lucky winner of this jar of jam (although I must admit, this one is more sauce-like than jammy) is Lydia of The Perfect Pantry.

For those of you who did not win, take heart. There will be a fresh and tasty giveaway coming later this week, so you’ll have another chance at a jar of homemade jam.

Did anyone can anything wonderful this weekend? I made a batch of strawberry-rhubarb jam for the class at Foster’s on Saturday morning and bought plums for a batch of jam that I didn’t quite get to. Let’s here about your projects!

Congrats to Lydia!

I didn’t can anything. I made some refrigerator pickled turnips, which turned out surprisingly well.

I did actually! It is right in the middle of cherry season so I loaded up and made cherry jam. I used David Leibowitz’s no-recipe recipe, although I added a bit of shredded apple and near the end I chickened out and added liquid pectin. We had it with hot English Muffin bread on Saturday night, and it was FANTASTIC.

I made nearly 3 pints of rhubarb orange jam (using a recipe from my great great grannie’s collection) – photos at my blog. Strawberry Rhubarb is next on my list.

I made apricot jam and then I had to clean out the freezer and made a huge batch of cranberry apple jam. I have been jammin like crazy the last few weeks. Oh finally made the pickled asparagus, they are great in bloody mary’s. The left over brine went for carrots, as well. thanks again. p.s have not used my grape ketchup yet, but my mind is going crazy with all the possibilites. Thank you.

Nothing, but am trying to figure a strawberry lemon marmalade that doesn’t use pectin.

I think that’s how I found you. I’ll be back to visit. Thanks! And let me know if you have such a recipe!
